Lieutenant Colonel Jason Turner is the Director of Strategic Initiatives, 80th Flying Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He leads the team responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of programs and projects that support the wing’s vision and short- and long-term plans. The wing provides combat airpower by producing top-quality fighter pilots for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance partners as part of the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program.
Lieutenant Colonel Jason A. Turner earned his ROTC commission from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He completed Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB, Oklahoma. Since pilot training, Lieutenant Colonel Turner has served multiple assignments as a T-37 and T-38C Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals instructor in Air Education and Training Command. Additionally, he instructed the Advanced Tactical Leadership Course at the US Air Forces Central Command’s Air Warfare Center. He was a distinguished graduate of Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. Operationally, he flew the F-15C from Kadena Air Base Japan. Prior to his current position, Lt Col Turner commanded the 80th Operations Support Squadron at Sheppard Air Force Base. He is a command pilot with over 3,000 hours.
