Commodore, Training Air Wing ONE U.S. Navy

CAPT Sylvester R. Foley IV is a native of Deerfield, NH, and a 2002 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He currently serves as the Commander of Training Air Wing ONE at NAS Meridian, MS.

Following his commission, CAPT Foley earned his wings of gold in 2005 at NAS Kingsville, TX, going on to fly the FA-18C Hornet at MCAS Beaufort, SC, and the FA-18E/F Super Hornet at NAS Oceana, VA; NAF Atsugi, Japan; and NAS Lemoore, CA.

Operationally, he commanded Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 113 and his other sea duty assignments include tours with VFA-86, CVW-3, VFA-195, and as Chief of Staff for Carrier Strike Group TWO. His career includes seven aircraft carrier deployments supporting numerous operations.

Ashore, he served as an instructor pilot in VFA-106, a member of the Joint Staff (J7), and received a Master of Science degree from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.

CAPT Foley has accumulated more than 3,400 flight hours and 740 arrested landings. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon, among other personal and unit awards.
