Colonel Jamie R. Johnson is the Chief, Persistent Attack and Reconnaissance Division, Directorate of Operations, Headquarters Air Combat Command (ACC/A3M), Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. The Division consists of six Branches: Advanced Programs, MQ-9A Operations, RQ-4 Operations, U-2 Operations, RQ-170 Operations, and Collaborative Combat Aircraft.
Col Johnson earned his commission upon graduation from The Citadel in 2004 and entered Joint Undergraduate Navigator Training at Randolph AFB, TX. Upon completion of training, he was assigned to Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ, flying the EC-130H Compass Call in both the 41st and 42nd Electronic Combat Squadrons. Recognizing the technological advancements in warfare, Col Johnson cross-trained to the new RPA Pilot career field to fly the MQ-9A Reaper in combat. Afterwards, he trained new aircrew to do the same an instructor in the MQ-9A Formal Training Unit and served as Commander of the 16th Training Squadron at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. Prior to his current role, he served as the Chief, MQ-9 Operations Branch and Deputy Chief, Persistent Attack and Reconnaissance Division at Headquarters, Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, VA.
Col Johnson is a Senior RPA Pilot with over 3,100 flight hours and 1,800 of those in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, USCENTCOM and USAFRICOM.
Col Johnson is married to the former Erin Caley of Bismarck, ND. They have two children, Cannon (16) and Kinsley (15).
