As a member of the federal government’s cybersecurity efforts for over two decades, Mr. Vu T. Nguyen has played a critical role in shaping the future of the federal government’s cybersecurity posture with roles in security operations, vulnerability management, computer forensics, information assurance, and incident management. He currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the DOJ. As CISO, Mr. Nguyen provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight to the Department’s cybersecurity initiatives. Prior to his position as DOJ CISO, Mr. Nguyen served as acting CISO at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), where he managed the component’s cybersecurity defense initiatives as well as enhanced, secured, and matured information technology defense systems. Before joining the USCIS, Mr. Nguyen served as the Director of the Federal Information Security Modernization Act Compliance and Metrics Division at the DHS. He also served as the Director of DHS’s Security Operations Division. Mr. Nguyen holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications focused on cybersecurity and computer forensics from George Mason University (GMU) and serves on GMU’s College of Engineering and Computing Advisory Board.
