Anthony C. Crane is a Deputy Executive Director at the National Targeting Center (NTC), where he leads a team of over 900 professionals dedicated to excellence in counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and counter-network operations. In his role, DXD Crane oversees the NTC's mission to advance sophisticated targeting, research, analytical, and intelligence processes. His leadership ensures seamless collaboration with state, local, federal, international, and intelligence community partners, driving efforts to acquire, operationalize, and act on critical intelligence to strengthen border & national security.

DXD Crane previously served as the Division Chief of U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Headquarters (HQ) Intelligence Division, where he was responsible for providing technical expertise and direction, to all national level USBP intelligence related priorities and investigative operations. He developed and fostered great partnerships with state, local, and federal agencies, both domestically and internationally, advancing success in both national and border security mission sets and still is the Deputy Chair for CBP’s Senior Intelligence Leadership Committee.

DXD Crane entered on duty with USBP on March 9, 2009, as a member of Class 861, at Douglas Station. He was promoted to Supervisory Border Patrol Agent in 2014, when he was detailed to the NTC to work with the intelligence community on critical national security threats. In 2016, he promoted to Operations Officer in USBP’s Intelligence Division, joining NTC’s Counter Network Division, where he helped establish several key lines of effort. Concurrently, he was detailed to Homeland Security Investigations’ HQ to form the DHS MS-13 working group, bolstering gang enforcement efforts across the nation. His contributions earned him the DHS ICE Partnership and USBP Commendation Awards for the successful arrest of hundreds of MS-13 gang members. In September 2022, he became Patrol Agent in Charge of the Rio Grande Valley Sector Intelligence Unit, CBP’s largest, where he built a high-performing team, implemented counter-network strategies, and achieved record seizures, apprehensions, and investigations. In 2023, he was detailed to CBP HQ to develop the agency's “Strategy to Combat Fentanyl and Other Synthetic Drugs,” a comprehensive approach to synthetic drug threats.

In June 2025, DXD Crane developed and instituted the architecture, automated targeting system targeting platforms/hotlists, and methodology for CBP’s domestic immigration enforcement, and agency wide enforcement initiative coined- “Fortifying the Border”, resulting in thousands of national security and criminal alien interior arrests. In October 2025, DXD Crane was chosen as the interim Director for CBP’s new Countering Unmanned Aircraft System-Defense Capability Group (C-UAS DCG), CBP’s efforts to advance the mission space, synchronize operational component priorities, and ensure CBP combats adversarial threats while also developing a defensive and offensive deployment posture for the World Cup and Olympics.

Anthony has held numerous field leadership roles, including Watch Commander, Deputy Patrol Agent in Charge, Assistant Chief (HQ), Patrol Agent in Charge, Division Chief of Operations, Division Chief of Intelligence and Deputy Executive Director.

Anthony started his law enforcement career in 1999 and holds a degree in Criminal Justice. He and his wife, Becki, have one son (a Resident Agent in Blaine Sector), two daughters, and currently reside in Ashburn, VA.
