Homeland Security Chief Napolitano Set to Resign and Take University Job

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano plans to announce her resignation today (Friday), multiple news outlets are reporting.
Ms. Napolitano is expected head to the University of California system to serve as its president:
Her nomination by a committee of UC regents came after a secretive process that insiders said focused on her credentials as a high-profile candidate who has held high office and has displayeds a strong interest in improving education.

UC officials believe that her HS experiences, which include spearheading the responses to hurricanes and tornadoes and overseeing some anti-terrorism measures, will help UC administer its federal energy and nuclear weapons labs and help its federally-funded research in healthcare.
Ms. Napolitano has been secretary of Homeland Security since 2009 and is the first the first woman to fill that role. She previously served as Democratic governor of Arizona.
