3 NATO Soldiers Killed by Suicide Bomber Riding a Donkey
Add bookmarkThree NATO soldiers and their Afghan interpreter were killed on Tuesday when a suicide bomber riding a donkey detonated his explosives in eastern Afghanistan.
Four Afghan soldiers were also wounded in the blast, a spokesman for the Wardak provincial government said.
"The suicide bomber wearing farmer clothes and riding a donkey targeted the Afghan and coalition soldiers at 10:30 am in Sayedabad district, killing three NATO troops and their Afghan interpreter," Ataullah Khogyani said.
Civilians were killed and wounded in the attack, he said, but could not provide further details. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
NATO confirmed the three soldiers' deaths, but did not release the nationalities of the victims.
However most of the foreign soldiers stationed in eastern Afghanistan are American.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said: "In the incident, 14 American and domestic soldiers were killed and a large number were injured."
