The White House was quick to condemn North Korea's third nuclear test on Tuesday, with President Obama calling it a "highly provocative act" that "undermines regional stability."
Mr. Obama also described the action, in which the secretive communist country detonated a small nuclear device at a northeastern test site, as "a threat to U.S. national security."
The test was in defiance of U.N. Security Council orders to end atomic activity or face more sanctions.
