An Officer and a Gentleman is not only a classic film starring Richard Gere it is also the term for the standard of expected behavior for the commissioned leadership of the United States Armed Forces.
But what exactly does this phrase mean and what are the actions and words that define it? All members of the military (officers and enlisted) are primarily warfighters which means they could at any time be called upon to face combat situations and possibly witness death and take life.
