Army heavy vehicles are critical to mission success in OIF/OEF. However, terrain differences in Iraq and Afghanistan require different types of vehicles and capabilities. COL Barbosa discusses the future for Army heavy vehicles and the different variants that will be required for mission success. He also elaborates on funding issues and how that shapes the Army force of heavy vehicles regarding maintanence of the fleet as well as fielding new vehicles needed to meet current Army missions. Finding the right mix of vehicles is key to having the most economically viable and most effective heavy vehicles for the U.S. Army.
