F-35 Warplanes Grounded After Blade Crack Scare
The Pentagon’s biggest weapons program, the $396 billion F-35 Joint Strike Fighter project, was dealt a setback when a routine inspection uncovered a crack on a turbine blade in the jet’s engine.
Flights of all 51 F-35s were suspended on Friday as engineering teams prepared to investigate the crack and establish whether or not it is a fleet-wide problem.
