Add bookmark

Colonel William Boruff, Program Manager, Transportation Systems, examines the realignment strategies for the Army’s fleet of vehicles and highlights the various mission and aims of the Joint Combat Support Systems, TACOM. This video interview explores the challenges of improving the capabilities of tactical vehicles and what lessons were learned in theatre. Colonel Boruff discusses how technology was required to up-armor the vehicles with ‘sea kits’ during combat, then removing the kits during ‘peace time’ for weight reduction. Filmed live at the Military Vehicles Exhibition & Conference, this interview also explores the importance and consideration given to ‘operational energy’, especially as requirements change so must the vehicles, so attention is paid to ‘fuel economy, aerodynamics, wind …to ensure we get the leanest vehicle we can’.
