Nelson Balido is the longtime chairman of IDGA’s Homeland Security Week. As chairman, Nelson has proven to be a liaison between government and industry, a moderator that drives thought-provoking conversation, and a facilitator of discussion in both the session room and expo hall.
Now in 2026, Nelson won’t just be chairing the entire conference; he will also take on a more niche role as track chair of the border security track. There he will lead sessions on cross-border collaboration, modernizing Coast Guard capabilities, and more. Before the conference, Nelson joined IDGA to discuss the current state of border security, as well as what he is looking forward to when leading the border security track this March. Other tracks at this year’s Homeland Security Week include cyber/data/AI and public safety/law enforcement. For in-depth discussion on these topics, register for the conference set to take place March 17-18 at the MGM National Harbor Hotel & Casino in Maryland.
