Chief Nick Schuler

Deputy Director, Communications & Emergency Incident Awareness California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE)

Chief Schuler is a 25-year veteran of CAL FIRE and is currently the Deputy Director of Communications and Emergency Incident Awareness overseeing CAL FIRE’s communications strategy. Throughout his career he has held a variety of positions including Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chief. He spent 18 years on type 1 incident managements teams and holds numerous type 1 ICS qualifications.

Chief Schuler has a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, an associate degree in emergency management and fire science. He is a graduate of the Los Angeles City Fire Department Leadership Academy and is designated as a Chief Fire Officer, and Public Information Officer from the Center of Public Safety Excellence.
