Scott Eckman began his fire service career in 2001 with local government in Northern California. In 2005, he joined CAL FIRE in the Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit (NEU), where he served in a variety of assignments, including Firefighter I and II, Engineer, Captain, Emergency Command Center (ECC), and Fire Marshal.
In spring 2021, Scott attended his first UAS-related course. By fall 2021, he had assumed the role of Lead UAS Pilot for NEU.
Scott is a qualified UAS pilot in both S-373 Incident Operations and UAS Aerial Ignition. Since 2022, he has been a member of the CAL FIRE UAS cadre, assisting with instruction for A-450, S-373, and the Aerial Ignition Academy. On October 30, 2023,
Scott was promoted to Battalion Chief – Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Fleet Manager.
