Lieutenant Colonel Amber Dawson is the Deputy Director for Joint and National Security Council Matters, Office of the Chief Operations Officer, Headquarters, USSF at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. Lt Col Dawson ensures the Chief of Space Operations and Chief Operations Officer are prepared for strategic deliberations with other Joint Chiefs of Staff and Operations Deputies, while also supervising the tasking, coordination, and approval of USSF correspondence with the Joint Staff.

Lt Col Dawson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a concentration in East Asian studies in 2004 from the University of California, San Diego, and commissioned under a full Air Force ROTC scholarship. Her career has included operational assignments at 2 SOPS, 50 OSS, the 609th Air Operations Center, and the Combined Space Operations Center, as well as staff positions at Air Force Space Command, the LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education, and Headquarters, USSF. Lt Col Dawson is also a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School and the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies.

Prior to assuming her current position, Lt Col Dawson served as the Deputy Chief, Strategy and Plans Branch, Future Operations Division, Office of the Chief Operations Officer, Headquarters, USSF, where she supported the development of key USSF concepts and initiatives, to include clarifying Service roles and responsibilities, as well as better defining command relationships between Combatant Commanders for space operations in competition and conflict.
