UA-ARC is a non-profit corporation established by the University of Arizona to leverage the University’s research enterprise to meet federal requirements for defense, security, and intelligence projects. UArizona is installing two high-speed wind tunnels with scales appropriate for dual use as both basic research and T&E facilities. The Mach 5 Quiet Ludwieg Tube and Arizona Supersonic Wind Tunnel are currently under construction and will be operational in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Together, the facilities enable experimentation from Mach 1.75 – 5. The experimental facilities complement UArizona's other capabilities in high-speed and hypersonic aerodynamics including computational and theoretical boundary-layer stability, plasma-coupled fluid dynamics simulations and nonequilibrium flow modeling.
