Eric R. Scherff is the Vice President of Hypersonic Strike Programs for Lockheed Martin Space. In this role, Eric oversees four rapidly growing hypersonic strike programs– Intermediate Range Conventional Prompt Strike (IR CPS), Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) production, Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon (HCSW) and Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW). His charter is to advance hypersonic commonality and deliver strategic hypersonic capabilities to our nation in partnership with the United States Air Force, Army and Navy. Eric most recently served as Vice President of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program from 2017 to 2019, where, in partnership with the Navy, he led the program through a major reshaping effort to relocate program capabilities, facilities and 650 positions from Sunnyvale, CA to Denver, CO and Titusville, FL; strategically positioning the program for continued success in delivering our nation’s strategic deterrent. Prior to that, Eric served as FBM Director of Programs, leading a team of 2,600 employees in the development, manufacture, flight-testing, deployment and sustainment of Fleet Ballistic Missiles and associated electronic hardware and support equipment. Eric has been with Lockheed Martin for 34 years, serving in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility and leadership. Eric began his career with Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems and came to work at Space in 2000 working on the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Program. Eric joined FBM in 2006 as the Program Manager for Low Cost Test Missile Kit, and after first flight success in 2007, transitioned to lead the D5 Life Extension Program. In 2014, Eric successfully led the FBM program through DASO-25, the first flight test of the D5 Life Extension suite, a major program milestone culminating over a decade of hard work. Eric’s proven record in leading missile defense and strategic weapon system programs spans program management, engineering management, systems engineering, strategic planning, and culture change areas of expertise. Eric graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
