Colonel Christopher Barnwell

Field Experimentation Division Joint Modernization Command, U.S. Army

Colonel Christopher M. Barnwell was commissioned a Distinguished Military Graduate and Aviation officer through Army ROTC at Hampton University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in June 1993.

COL Barnwell served as Commander, Detachment Three, Joint MIA Accounting Command in Laos, and Commander, 4th Battalion (Attack), 501st Aviation Regiment, 1st Armored Division Combat Aviation Brigade.  After command, COL Barnwell served as Chief of Operations, Brigade Modernization Command, Corps Force Modernization Officer and Aviation Officer, XVIII Airborne Corps during Operation Inherent Resolve, and Director, Field Experiments Division, Joint Modernization Command.

COL Barnwell earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix.  His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Combat Action Badge, Aviator’s Badge, Airborne Badge and Air Assault Badge.
