Vice President of Business Development and Strategy American Rheinmetall Vehicles

Mike Milner joined American Rheinmetall Vehicles as the Director of Business Development and Strategy in January 2020. Located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, Mike has overall responsibility for identifying opportunities and developing strategies to capture future DoD business in support of Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Division.

Prior to joining Rheinmetall, Mike spent over 30 years in the United States Army serving in positions of increasing responsibility from Platoon Leader to Brigade Level Command in operational, contracting, and modernization organizations. As an Armor officer, Mike served in multiple Armored Cavalry Regiments (ACR) overseas and the U.S., culminating in a troop command with the 3d ACR. Transitioning to the Army Acquisition Corps, Mike spent the next ten years providing contracting support to Army operations overseas ultimately serving as the Commander for the Defense Contracting Management Agency (DCMA) in Italy where he was responsible for oversight of the VH‐71 Presidential Helicopter Program, the C‐27 Cargo Aircraft for the Afghan Air Force, and Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP).

Moving to the Program Management field, he was selected to lead the Army’s ACAT I, Excalibur program producing a first of its kind cannon‐fired, guided artillery projectile. During this time, Mike successfully led the program from EMD and urgent fielding to full rate production and worldwide fielding. Following graduation from the U.S. Army War College and a position on the Army Staff supporting the Army Acquisition Executive (AAC), the Army selected him to lead the effort to replace the venerable M113 family of vehicles. As the Project Manager for the Armored Multi–Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Mike guided the $15B program from the start of EMD to a successful Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) decision on time.

Mike earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Georgia State University, an MBA from Clemson University, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. Mike is also Level III certified in Contracting and Program Management.
