Colonel Nick Dvonch

Colonel Nick Dvonch, a native of Kailua, Hawaii, commissioned in 2001 as a Field Artillery Officer, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and then a Master of Business Administration in 2013. In 2022, Colonel Dvonch received a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA. Colonel Dvonch is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Field Artillery Captains Career Course, Army Command and General Staff College, Joint Firepower Course and Joint Air Operations C2 Course.

COL Nicholas H. Dvonch currently serves as the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery (DIVARTY) Commander. Recently redeployed from EUCOM, the DIVARTY was stationed at LSA Eagle, Poland and OPCON to Security Assistance Group – Ukraine.

Prior to command, COL Dvonch served as the Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs. His previous assignments include Battalion Commander for 1-82 Field Artillery “DRAGONS,” Fort Hood, Texas; Assignment Officer, Field Artillery Branch, Human Resources Command, Fort Knox; Battalion Operations Officer, later Executive Officer, 1-5 Field Artillery, later Executive Officer, 1st Infantry Division Artillery, Fort Riley, Kansas; Bravo Battery, later Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington; Fire Support Officer, 4-6 Air Cavalry Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington; Fire Support Officer, later Fire Direction Officer, later Executive Officer, C Battery, 2-319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Colonel Dvonch’s military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with two oak leaf clusters (OLC), the Army Meritorious Service Medal with six OLC, the Army Commendation Medal with six OLC, the Army Achievement Medal with two OLC, the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and Ranger Tab.

Colonel Dvonch is married to the former Erin Nichols with four children.
