COL Elliott Harris was commissioned in May 1999 as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery and completed his Officer Basic Course at Ft Sill in January 2000. Following the Officer Basic Course he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks Hawaii where he served as a Fire Direction Officer, Platoon Leader, and Executive Officer for Foxtrot Battery, 7th Field Artillery. He was then assigned to 2d Battalion, 11th Field Artillery where he served as a Company Fire Support Officer and Battalion S4. Upon completion of his tour in Hawaii, he then returned to Ft Sill to complete the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course graduating in November of 2004 and was assigned to 2d Infantry Division, in the Republic of Korea. LTC Harris served in 2d Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment as the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery Commander in Korea, and upon notice of deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom he deployed his battery to Iraq. While in Iraq he assumed command of Bravo Battery and completed his assignment to Iraq, redeploying the battery to Ft Carson, Colorado. Later assigned to serve as Assistant Professor of Military Science at Drexel University where he served as the Freshmen Instructor and the Recruiting Officer. In 2008 he deployed to Iraq a second time where he served on a Military Transition Team working with Iraqi Security Forces in Baghdad. Upon redeploying, he was assigned to Ft Leavenworth where he served in the Mission Command Training Program as the Field Artillery Battalion OC-T and completed the Command and Generals Staff College.

He was later assigned to 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division where he deployed to Afghanistan and served as the Brigade Fire Support Officer. LTC Harris joined 2d Battalion, 77th Field Artillery serving as the Battalion S3 and deployed to Afghanistan again and was later selected to serve as the Brigade Executive Officer in Afghanistan and Ft Carson. Following his time at Ft Carson, he moved to Northern Virginia and was assigned to the Joint Improvised – threat Defeat Organization where he served as a Branch Chief in the J3 and Military Advisor to the Department of State. He served as the battalion commander for 1st Battalion, 19th Field Artillery, Ft Sill Oklahoma, followed by an assignment as the Senior Fire Support OCT at the Joint Multi-National Readiness Center, Hohenfels Germany, and is currently serving as the Director, Army Capabilities Manager for Division Artillery Formations (DIVARTY).

Military and Civilian Education: COL Harris earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC and Masters of Arts Degree in Management from Webster University, St Louis MO, and a graduate of the Army War College, in Carlisle Pennsylvania. Awards and Decorations: COL Harris’ military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (3 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Combat Action Badge, and Air Assault Qualification Badge He is married to the former Regina Boyland and they have four children, daughter Avairy and sons Brennan, Carter), and Quintin.
