Small Wars Journal Blog - SWJ Blog is a multi-author blog publishing news and commentary on the various goings on across the broad community of practice (they look for “authentic voices that add richness, breadth and depth to the dialog that too often occurs in cloistered venues”). Small Wars Journal Blog draws articles daily from a variety of trusted sources to generate discussion and commentary.
Danger Room – they define themselves as ‘What’s next in National Security’. This authentic blog is a highly intelligent and often colloquial look at issues from the edge of the military, law enforcement and national security.
Soldier Systems Daily is an industry daily, focused on tactical gear for the military as well as concentrating on hardcore Government and Industry news. The blog covers the tactical industry but there is a little bit of humor and risqué content thrown in for good measure. Soldier Systems Daily doesn't just report Government procurement awards nor parrot press releases from industry. All information is weighed for its added value and paired with historical data to provide unmatched insight into the tactical industry
The Best Defense – a blog published by ForeignPolicy.com and Authored by Pulitzer Prize winning Thomas E Ricks , this blog is Serious without being pompous, and deep without being self-indulgent. Thomas Ricks writes expertly on global politics, economics, and ideas for people who want to know what's really happening in an increasingly complicated world
Information Dissemination - ‘intersection of maritime strategy and strategic communications’. The group of avid writers routinely discuss the issues of piracy, defense strategy, budget, trade, international relations and more. The tone is highly intelligent, engaging, and often opinionated.
Blackfive is the alias of one of the contributing writers to the blog. The other writers include Jim Hanson, The Laughing Wolf, Grim Beorn, and Pinch Paisley all of whom are veterans or currently serving . This is not your conventional hard news source blog as the writing is somewhat jaded and subjective. You could say the tone is quirky and cutting.
