Margarita Devlin was selected to serve as Principal Deputy

Under Secretary for Benefits in the Department of Veterans

Affairs on May 14, 2018. In this position, she serves as second in

command in the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), which

administers benefits programs for Veterans, including education,

home loan guaranty, disability compensation, pension, fiduciary,

vocational rehabilitation and employment, life insurance, and

transition assistance. Services are delivered through a

nationwide network of 56 regional offices, special processing

centers, and VBA Headquarters.

Ms. Devlin has a long history with VA, having served for over 20

years in various positions of increasing responsibility. She is a

Certified Rehabilitation Counselor who provided counseling and

evaluation services to Veterans in the Vocational Rehabilitation

and Employment (VR&E) Division of the Saint Petersburg, FL. VA

Regional Office, where she later progressed to positions as Assistant VR&E Officer and VR&E Officer. She

subsequently served in Washington, DC as the Deputy VR&E Service Director; the Acting VR&E Service

Director; Executive Director for Interagency Care and Benefits Coordination; Executive Director for

Navigation, Advocacy, and Community Engagement; and most recently she served as the Executive Director

of the Benefits Assistance Service.
