Laura Prietula MS, PMP, PgMP

Mrs. Prietula is the Executive Director for the Health Portfolio at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information and Technology. She is responsible for the product software lifecycle and IT software development activities delivering Health care, benefits, and services. This includes all legacy applications, ancillary products, community care, medical research, population health, medical devices, and supply chain. She has over 28 years of private and public sector experience in leadership, strategy, organizational change management, digital modernization, integration and engineering, and conducting disruptive innovations. Ms. Prietula is a strategic and visionary healthcare executive with consistent success in business and IT portfolio management and transformation. She is a mission-oriented leader with a proven track record of delivering optimal results in politically charged environments through technology initiatives that yield measurable outcomes. She has an exceptional background in innovating transformation of customer benefits delivery, creating business synergies, and maximizing business results. She excels at dealing with professionals from varied backgrounds, nationalities, and ethnicities; and skilled at working well under pressure in a very demanding environment. She is multicultural and multilingual. Ms. Prietula has worked in the health, manufacturing, financial, and services industries since 1993 and has received various awards, such as the 2021 FCW Federal 100, recognizing leaders who go above and beyond to show how technology can be leveraged to make government run better. She contributes regularly to Project Management Institute (PMI) initiatives, most recently as a collaborator in a Transformation and Organizational Management course series. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM Mexico) and a master’s degree in Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Florida. She is currently pursuing a PhD from Vanderbilt University in Leadership and Learning in Organizations with an expected graduation date of Dec 2022.
