Dr. Sanjay Parthasarathy

Dr. Parthasarathy is the Chief Capability Officer at the Space Development Agency (SDA). As part of the United States Space Force, SDA is recognized as a constructive disruptor for space acquisition. SDA quickly delivers needed space-based capabilities to the joint warfighter to support terrestrial missions through development, fielding, and operation of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA).

The Capability Office supports the PWSA from requirements identification through capability deployment, launch and mission operations. In addition to engineering expertise in missile warning and tracking, tactical communications, battle management and navigation, this office leads critical functions required for end-to-end mission execution: intel & threat countermeasures, warfighter integration, ground & launch, test, and mission operations. Collectively, the Capability Office builds and executes capability road maps, supports schedule execution, and proactively retires program risks through continuous industry engagement, supplier development, and nurturing a resilient space eco-system.

Before his selection as the Chief Capability Officer, Dr. Parthasarathy served as the Custody and Emerging Capabilities Cell Director for SDA. The Custody and Emerging Capabilities Cell is responsible for providing 24/7 all-weather space-based custody of missile and hypersonic threats, and new capabilities that enhance the use of space for national security missions.

Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Defense, Dr. Parthasarathy held technical and executive leadership positions in global aerospace, defense, and manufacturing industries. He led innovation, technology delivery and product management at Honeywell Aerospace, Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions and LMI. He led strategy and business development at Raytheon and Leidos. He has deep experience leading large organizations through inflection points, creating new markets, and delivering new capabilities on an accelerated schedule for space, aeronautics, semiconductors and software sectors. He also brings strategy and operations experience from consulting for global clients with Booz Allen Hamilton.

Dr. Parthasarathy has a doctorate in engineering and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a master's degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Mumbai, India.
