Hypersonics Laboratory Director Purdue Applied Research Institute

Dr. Gregory Scofield is the director of the Purdue Applied Research Institute’s Hypersonics Laboratory. As part of his responsibilities, Dr. Scofield oversees the Hypersonics Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center. Dr. Scofield currently oversees research programs focused on the development of additive manufacturing capabilities for RF window materials and ultra-high-temperature-ceramics, as well as the development of novel joining techniques for mating dissimilar materials used in thermal protection systems of hypersonic vehicles. Dr. Scofield completed both his B.S. and Ph.D. in materials science and engineering at Purdue University. Prior to his time at the Purdue Applied Research Institute, Dr. Scofield spent 6 years in the gas turbine industry studying the manufacturing and performance of ceramic matrix composites and environmental barrier coatings.
