Colonel Brendan J. Hochstein

Colonel Brendan J. Hochstein is the Commander, System Delta 89 (SYD 89) and the Deputy Portfolio Acquisition Executive (DPAE), Space Combat Power, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He leads a 735-member team executing a diverse portfolio of 30 acquisition programs valued at more than $17 billion. As the DPAE, he is responsible for portfolio strategy and program execution – delivering cyber, ground, and space-based capabilities that enable global freedom of action in the space domain through fires, movement, and maneuver. Additionally, in his capacity as SYD 89 Commander, Col Hochstein directs all organize, train, and equip functions, exercises Uniform Code of Military Justice authority, and ensures mission readiness in coordination with the United States Space Force Mission Deltas. Colonel Hochstein received his commission from the United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Portland. He is a career space officer and has served in a variety of acquisition, operational, and staff positions. After graduation, he was assigned to Hill Air Force Base and led a developmental Joint Electronic Warfare test program. He then served as a Mission Manager and Executive Officer at the Space Development and Test Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base. Colonel Hochstein led multiple rapid acquisition space control projects as the Chief of Mission Integration at the Rapid Reaction Branch, Peterson Air Force Base. He has also served as a Program Element Monitor for the Directorate of Space Programs at the Pentagon, Washington, DC. As a Materiel Leader, he ran the Space Operations Branch, where he led the 169-person space operations, acquisition, and engineering staff overseeing the United States Space Force's only 24/7 research and development operations center. Most recently, he served as Chief Evaluator, Space and ISR programs, Capabilities and Acquisition Division, J-8 Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Chief, Space Control Division for the Assistance Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration, Pentagon, Washington, DC
