Kevin Gearhart

Mr. Gearhart is a correctional contraband interdiction subject matter expert with 30 years of experience in the military and public safety. While working for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Mr. Gearhart has tested, developed, and deployed nationwide contraband interdiction systems for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP). Under Mr. Gearhart’s oversight, FBOP implements a multi-layered security defense model that combines full-body imaging scanners, a sophisticated and sensitive network of walk-through metal detectors, package palette x-rays scanners, ion spectrometry devices, counter-UAS systems, synthetic and opioid drug detections, digital mail scanning, and contraband cellphone interdiction technologies across the FBOP’s 122 facilities. He leads the FBOP’s efforts in development and deployment of new and emerging technologies to address the ever-changing threat of contraband to our federal prison system and is considered a principal subject matter expert for the Department of Justice on counter-UAS technologies for civilian airspace.
