Duane Neal

Duane Neal currently serves as the Deputy Senior Official for Scaled Directed Energy (SCADE) within the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)) Critical Technologies. Mr. Neal is also a Tri-Chair for the Counter Directed Energy (C-DEW) Mission Area Working Group within the Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations Executive Committee (EMSO EXCOM) organizational structure. Previous jobs have included contract support for the Joint Staff J8, Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Organization (JIAMDO) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Mr. Neal is a retired Naval Surface Warfare Officer with Aegis Combat Systems and Expeditionary Warfare experience. He served as J8 JIAMDO Warfighting Requirements Branch Chief and Assistant Branch Chief, U.S. Strategic Command J5 Missile Defense Plans, Policy and Doctrine. Mr. Neal holds a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master of Science in Military Studies from Marine Corps University. He has published articles in DefenseOne, e-International Relations, and the Missile Defense Review.
