Colonel Jason M. Wingeart

Director for Transformation and Lessons Learned Manager – Armored Brigade Combat US Army

He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and commissioned in the Infantry upon graduation from Western Maryland College in 2002. After attending the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Ft. Benning, GA, he served as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and S3 Air for 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment stationed in Baumholder, Germany and completed two deployments to Baghdad, Iraq. 

After completion of the Maneuver Captains Career Course (MCCC), he moved to Ft. Drum, NY where he served in 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment as the Battalion S4 and deployed the battalion to Konar Province before taking command of Battle Company in Logar Province, Afghanistan. After redeployment he took command of Hammer Company and led them through another Afghanistan deployment. Upon redeployment, he moved to Ft. Benning, GA and served as a Small Group Leader for MCCC students. 

Following Navy ILE and SAMS, he immediately deployed with the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) to Train, Advise, and Assist Command – East in Laghman Province, Afghanistan. After redeployment he served as a Division Planner. He was then assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment as the Battalion Executive Officer (XO) before moving up to 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division’s XO position a year later. Next, Jason served as a Field Grade Career Manager for Infantry Branch at Human Resource Command located at Fort Knox, KY.

Then Jason moved to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and took command of 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment. After command, he’s served as the Exercise Plans and Programs Branch Chief for INDOPACOM before moving to Joint Task Force – Red Hill. He served JTF-RH as an Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff.

COL Wingeart holds a BA in Exercise Science from Western Maryland College, a MS in Coaching Education from Ohio University, a MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, a MMAS in Military Operational Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies at the Command and General Staff College, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.

COL Wingeart’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal (3OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5OLC), Army Commendation Medal for Valor, Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), Presidential Unit

Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3-stars), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), NATO Medal (2), Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantrymen's Badge, the Jungle Tab, and the Ranger Tab. 

COL Wingeart is married to the former Tiffany J. Putro of Woodbine, Maryland. Together they have 2 children; Owen (12) and William (10).
