In George's Friedman's follow up to America's Secret War he tackles the challenge of forecasting world events over the next hundred years.  Although a daunting if not impossible task, Friedman makes a strong case for some of his conclusions.

There is no doubt that many of the predictions in the book will not transpire exactly the way Friedman describes.  He is the first to admit this fact.  However, the reasons and analysis behind his choices make for highly entertaining and educational reading.  He argues that too often the political thoughts and conclusions of the day are short-sided and larger forces will shape the future direction of the planet such as population trends, control of natural resources, and radical technological advances.

In the book, Friedman makes many predictions that fly in the face of most conventional ideas.  He argues that the War on Terror will just be a blip in the grand scheme of world events and makes the case for a resurgent Russia, a declining China, and an America that hasn't yet ascended to its ultimate apex.

He also makes the case that Turkey and Poland (minor powers on the global stage today) will make a huge impact in the next 50 years.  Although some of his ideas on the future of warfare border on fantasy science fiction it is impossible to ingore the logic provided by Friedman and the conclusions he draws from it.  And given his eerily accurate predictions about how the war on terror has unfolded thus far and his work as CEO of STRATFOR his voice is one that is not easily dismissed.
