Stranded U.S. Minesweeper to Remain Stuck for Weeks
The USS Guardian, a minesweeper that has been stranded on a reef off the coast of the Philippines for a week, may still be there in early February.
The ship has suffered a number of breaches in the hull and has taken in a lot of water.
Joint Group Unit Guardian Commander Rear Admiral Tom Carney said the vessel has moved around quite a bit in the last week and is now stuck with a 10-degree list, 20 yards from the edge of Tubbataha Reef.
