Human Trafficking Probe at Virginia Home of Saudi Diplomat

An investigation has been launched into apotential case of human trafficking at the suburban Washington home of a Saudi diplomat.

Federal authorities were called to a wealthy part of McLean, Virginia, and took away two possible victims of trafficking, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Brandon Montgomery said.

The property is the home of the Saudi military attachê, according to a State Department official.

The probe is being carried out byHomeland Security Investigations, a unit within ICE.

The two people in question, both women from thePhilippines, work at the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Washington D.C., CNN reports.

They are alleging that they have been mistreated, saying that the Saudi attachê kept their passports, made them work extremely long hours and did not pay them.

The State Department official told CNN that there is no indication at present that the women were physically abused.

He added that the nature of the allegations are similar to others made in cases of domestic workers who toil for diplomats from the Persian Gulf.

An ICE spokesman said authorities typicallyremove the victim and then begin an investigation once there is "confirmation of suspicions."

There has been no comment so far from thediplomat who lives at the McLean property or the Saudi Embassy in D.C.
