Amy Hrin

Vice President of Program Development American Humane Society

Dr. Amy Hrin is the Vice President of Program Development at American Humane Society, where she has spent over 17 years creating and managing programs that leverage the human-animal bond to support people in need. Dr. Hrin has led the design and execution of numerous studies highlighting the impact of the human-animal bond on both people and animals. As Principal Investigator for key research projects, including the Canines and Childhood Cancer Research study and the Pets in the Classroom study, she has advanced knowledge in this field. In 2013, Dr. Hrin and her therapy dog were deployed to Boston by American Humane Society to provide comfort after the marathon bombings. She also owns and handled Butler, The Weather Channel Therapy Dog, leading missions to support communities affected by natural disasters. Dr. Hrin has significantly contributed to American Humane Society’s military support initiatives. She developed programs to reunite retired military working dogs with their former handlers and established the Pups4Patriots program, pairing veterans and first responders with service dogs. As Vice President of Program Development, Dr. Hrin continues to drive growth, forge partnerships, and expand American Humane Society’s impact. She holds a Master’s degree from Queens University of Charlotte, a Doctoral degree from the University of Denver, and a Veteran Behavioral Health Certificate from the Department of Defense.
