Chris Melley is a global
energy executive with expertise in energy trading and the integration of
renewables and disruptive business models and technologies. Chris started
his career at FPL (now NextEra Energy Resources) in roles as a Quantitative Analyst,
Trader, Portfolio Manager, and P&L Manager of generation assets. He has
worked in both the regulated and deregulated utility markets.
Chris has led teams to
develop utility-scale wind farms for a Morgan Stanley Venture and
Siemens-Gamesa in the US, Mexico, and Caribbean. In 2014 he rejoined NextEra
Energy to support demand response and distributed generation projects. Chris
joined ABB in 2017 to work with teams building the next-generation energy
ecosystem with microgrid solutions integrating distributed generation assets
and battery storage systems (BESS). Chris’ team has successfully delivered
optimized solutions for islands, commercial & industrial customers, and
utilities modernizing their grids.
Chris has a BA from
Hampden-Sydney College and earned his MBA from the University of Florida. He is
based in Houston, Texas.
