Elias D. Wilcoski

Research Physicist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) US Navy

Elias D. Wilcoski received a B.S. degree in engineering physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, IL, USA, in 2018. He is a Research Physicist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Washington, DC, USA.

He has worked there the past 5 years in different roles on several spacecraft engineering projects. This includes working as Electrical Ground System Equipment (EGSE) lead for the Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 0 Interoperability Testing and as Electrical Integration and Testing (EI&T) Engineer for the Compact Coronagraph 2 (CCOR-2). In addition he has served as Principal Investigator on the LED Rectifying Antenna (LEctenna) STEM outreach wireless power-beaming demonstration that was performed onboard the International Space Station (ISS) in 2020, worked as Flight Operations Lead on the currently ongoing Space Wireless Energy Laser Link (SWELL) experiment onboard the ISS, and is currently leading the Space-to-Earth Laser Concept for a Global Energy System (SELECT GES) study in order to assess and determine next steps in the development of space solar laser power beaming. He is a member of NRL’s space solar research team and has presented at both the 71st International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and the 40th International Space Development Conference (ISDC) on NRL’s progress in the field of space solar research.
