Dr. Mike Kweon is a senior leader and expert in advanced propulsion systems, serving as the Program Manager for the Army Research Laboratory's (ARL) flagship Versatile Tactical Power and Propulsion research program. He provides strategic direction and oversight for critical research in energy, power and propulsion technologies. Demonstrating exceptional foresight, he founded the Center for UAS Propulsion (CUP) in 2018, creating a vital hub for innovation in unmanned systems.
Dr. Kweon's career is marked by a proven ability to bridge government and industry. Before rising through leadership roles at ARL, he held key engineering positions at General Motors and Delphi. This unique blend of experience informs his leadership, resulting in impactful, real-world solutions.
An accomplished scholar and inventor, Dr. Kweon holds over 30 invention disclosures and has co-authored more than 350 publications. He is a Fellow of the Combustion Institute and has received numerous honors, including multiple Army Civilian Service Commendation Medals for his contributions. His credentials include a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and executive education from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, underscoring his expertise in both deep technology and strategic leadership.
