Lieutenant Colonel Paul Horton

LTC Paul C. Horton commissioned in 2005 as a Field Artillery Officer from the ROTC program at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Management. He has served on active duty for over 20 years transitioning in 2015 to Functional Area (FA) 57 Simulation Operations. He has experience in designing, planning, and executing command post exercises from Battalion through Combatant Command echelons in both EUCOM and INDOPACOM areas and is a recent graduate from the Joint Advanced Warfare School (JAWS) in Norfolk, VA.

Previously, LTC Horton led the Regional Simulation Capability (RSC) at the Joint Multinational Simulation Center (JMSC) in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Other notable assignments include Capability Developer (CAPDEV) for the Squad Immersive Virtual Trainer (SiVT) and Next Generation Constructive (NGC) programs on the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Cross-Functional Team (CFT), Mission Training Complex Chief / Chief of Homestation Training (JMSC Grafenwoehr spoke), and Division Simulations Officer/Exercise Planner for 25th Infantry Division. LTC Horton also completed Field Artillery assignments from platoon through brigade including commanding two batteries and culminating as the Master Air Attack Planner for the 5th Battlefield Coordination Detachment. Paul has deployed three times in support of OIF/OND and OEF for 33 months total of combat operations including commanding an advisor team (SFAAT) advising six Afghan Uniformed Police Districts.

LTC Horton completed professional military education including FA Officer Basic Course, FA Captains Career Course, and ILE (receiving the General John J. Pershing Award in 2015). Paul also completed a Masters of Science in Modelling and Simulation from the University of Central Florida via the Advanced Civil Schooling (ACS) program in 2022. He also currently serves as a Director for Tranquility Base USA: a non-profit aimed at providing an environment of rest and recovery for Veterans, First Responders, and Healthcare Workers suffering from PTSD. His wife Ashly Horton and their kids Chase, Bonnie, and Lily join him in the Chesapeake, VA area.
