Cliff Chapman, Director, Provincial Operations, began his career with the BC Wildfire Service in 2001 as a crew member, working summers while gaining a degree in education. Upon graduating, Cliff found that wildfire was his calling, and his educational training provided a solid leadership background in the field. Cliff moved through a variety of leadership positions across the province, including working as an Incident Commander on some of our most complex fires and an Operations Chief Type 2. Prior to joining the BC Wildfire Executive, Cliff was the Manager, Kamloops Fire Centre. Under the relatively new position of Director, Provincial Operations, Cliff is responsible for building robust prevention and preparedness programs, modernizing predictive services, redefining advanced planning, and coordinating cross jurisdictional integration of wildfire operations and emergency management to address the rapidly changing conditions of wildfire and natural hazards in the Province.
There are numerous opportunities for cross-agency equipment and information sharing to better manage wildfires. This session will see a representative from Canada discuss areas of current and potential collaboration for preventing and suppressing wildfires.
