Ms. Chaplain currently serves as a Director, Contracting and National Security Acquisitions,

at the U.S. Government Accountability Office. She has responsibility for GAO assessments of military space programs, NASA, and the Missile Defense Agency as well as cyber protection for weapon systems. She has recently led reviews on cyber vulnerabilities affecting weapons programs as well as reviews of the Global Positioning System, future space architectures, satellite user terminals, space leadership,  and the James Webb telescope.  She has also led a variety of other contracting-related and best practice evaluations for the GAO. Before her current position, Ms. Chaplain worked with GAO’s financial management and information technology teams, where she wrote extensively about information security. Ms. Chaplain has been with the GAO for 28 years. She received a bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in International Relations from Boston University and a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia University.
