Tyler Sautter has over 15 years of experience in the operations of UAVs from Group 1 – Group 4. Sautter fielded the first military UAS system in the state of Colorado in 2008 and immediately deployed with that system to Baghdad, Iraq. Upon returning, he attended and graduated from the U.S. Army’s Instructor Pilot school and went to work as a lead Standardization Pilot, which required him to deploy to Iraq as a civilian contractor, running standardization programs for GOCO (Government owned, Civilian operated) sites in direct support of Joint Special Operations Command. Sautter also worked as a Senior Training Instructor at the U.S. Army’s UAS National Training Center in Ft. Huachuca, AZ, and has since written training programs for commercial UAS manufacturers and managed a team of UAS instructor pilots while delivering training across six continents. Sautter supported the Department of the Navy small unmanned systems testing directorate as the Operations Manager for a team performing the red-cell and software validation testing of Department of the Navy counter UAS systems. His previous position as Director of Counter Threat Solutions was for a government contractor managing contracts and employees to support against threats from emerging technology, weapons of mass destruction, and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive capabilities. He served as a C-UAS Subject Matter Expert in the development, instruction, and implementation of the New Mexico Tech (NMT) Drone Assessment and Response Tactics (DART) course. He currently still supports NMT in the sustainment and instruction of DART.
