Katie Stana is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. Prior to her assignment as International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Director for Mission Mexico, she was Consul General in Barcelona.
Katie previously served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Human Resources. Katie also served as Chief of Staff to the Director General of the Foreign Service, supporting the Director General to impart executive leadership and oversight to the Department's 76,000 employees.
In Washington, Katie held several positions within the Department's Executive Secretariat, including in the State Department's Operations Center and as Director of the Executive Secretariat Staff, overseeing the teams that plan and execute the Secretary of State's foreign and domestic travel. She also did a Pearson Foreign Policy Fellowship in United States Senate.
Overseas, Katie served as International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Director at Embassy Islamabad, in addition to assignments in Italy, Turkey, and Uruguay. Katie is a 2016 graduate of the National War College and a 2002 graduate of the University of Virginia. She has a young daughter, Helene.
