Andrew Vanjani

Andrew Vanjani was sworn in as the USCIS Chief Information Officer (CIO) on April 20, 2026.

Before assuming this position, Vanjani served as chief information officer and director of Information Technology Services at the Organization of American States (OAS), where he led enterprise IT operations and spearheaded complex, multimillion-dollar modernization initiatives across a geographically dispersed international organization. Before working at OAS, he served as assistant cabinet secretary and chief operating officer at the Maryland Department of Information Technology, where he led statewide IT operations and supported enterprise technology strategy and service delivery across government agencies.

Vanjani brings extensive experience aligning technology with mission outcomes; managing large-scale transformation programs; and delivering secure, resilient, and user-centered solutions across both public and private sector environments. Known for his strategic approach to solving complex challenges, Vanjani emphasizes strong stakeholder engagement and human-centered design to ensure technology investments are grounded in operational needs. Over the course of his career, he has managed IT operating and capital budgets exceeding $100 million across multiple organizations and initiatives while building high-performing teams and driving collaboration with technical and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful, lasting results.

Vanjani holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Science in Information Systems from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management from the University of Maryland. He holds several professional certifications, including Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional, Project Management Professional, ITIL Expert, Certified Scrum Master, Technology Business Management, and federal certifications at the highest level, including FAC-P/PM Level III and FAC-COR Level III. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
