Tim Zolandz joined the FBI in 2007 and is currently the CODIS Program Manager in the Biometrics Analysis Section of the FBI Laboratory Division. In this role he is responsible for the strategy and direction of the CODIS application which underpins the National DNA Index System in the United States. CODIS is currently installed in over 200 federal, state, and local forensic DNA laboratories as well as over 60 countries globally. Mr. Zolandz ensures that development objectives and timelines align with the evolving needs of today’s forensic laboratories.
With over 20 years of experience in forensic DNA analysis and databasing, he onboarded to the FBI as a CODIS Auditor and went to serve as the International and Missing Persons Program Manager in the CODIS Unit. Prior to government service he worked in both private industry and local government as a DNA analyst and Supervisor.
Mr. Zolandz holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in forensic science from the George Washington University. He is a 2021 recipient of the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence in Innovation for his role in the development and implementation of Rapid DNA use in the booking stations.
