Supervisory Assistant Chief US Border Patrol

Matthew Lightner is a Supervisory Assistant Chief (SASC) in the Systems Division of the U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters’ Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate, where he plays a pivotal role in overseeing the US Border Patrol’s biometrics and various enforcement systems technologies utilized by front-line agents. As the US Border Patrol’s biometrics subject matter expert, he works to ensure compliance to all biometrics requirements that include face, iris, contact and contactless fingerprints, and DNA collections. SASC Lightner has over 18 years of experience in federal law enforcement and has been integral in strengthening cross-agency collaborations and advancing operational objectives. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice-Homeland Security.
