Robert Hoffman is the Director of the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC), United States Space Command (USSPACECOM). Through the Combined / Joint Force Space Component Commander, the JNWC enables Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Superiority for the Department of Defense, Interagency, and Coalition Partners. The JNWC achieves its mission through three lines of effort: creating NAVWAR knowledge, operationalizing NAVWAR capabilities, and institutionalizing NAVWAR across the Joint Force. The JNWC provides NAVWAR operational and engineering support to Combatant Commands and Services through NAVWAR Coordination Cells, exercise support, and PNT Operational Field Assessments (POFAs).
Mr. Hoffman previously served as the Director, United States Army Space and Missile Defense School, United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), joining the organization in 2014 and previously served as an Instructor, Course Manager, and the Space Operations Training Division Chief. Mr. Hoffman is a Level III Space Professional.
Mr. Hoffman was commissioned in 2002 – through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, AZ – into the U.S. Air Force and served as a Systems Engineer in the Air Force Research Laboratory – Space Vehicles Directorate. In 2003, he transferred into the U.S. Army and served as an Armor Officer, deploying in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. Mr. Hoffman was assigned to USASMDC in 2011 and served as an Army Space Operations Officer. As an Army Reserve Officer, Mr. Hoffman’s assignments include ROTC Assistant Professor of Military Science; Instructor/Facilitator and a Current Operations Officer for USASMDC G3; Command Inspector General, 95th Training Division (IET); Commander, I Corps Main Command Post – Operational Detachment (MCP-OD); and is currently assigned to HQDA G-3/5/7 Strategic Operations.
