Born in Udine on 7 March 1969, Lieutenant General Bruno PISCIOTTA was admitted to the Military School "Nunziatella" in Naples, the oldest and most prestigious military school in Europe, in 1985.
From 1988 to 1993, he attended the Military Academy (170th Course "Audacia"), in Modena, and the Army Application School, in Turin, where he obtained a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.
In 1993, as Second Lieutenant, he was assigned to the 2nd Briging Engineer Regiment, in Piacenza, serving as Platoon Commander until 1994.
From 1994 to 2001, he held successive command appointments as Platoon Commander and Company Commander at the Engineer School Training Battalion in Rome.
From September 2001 to July 2006, he was assigned to the 7th Infrastructure Department in Florence, serving as Head of Military Infrastructure Design.
From June 2006 to May 2008, he served as Staff Officer within the Transformation Section of the General Planning Office, Italian Defence General Staff.
From May 2008 to November 2009, he was assigned to the Innovation Centre of the Italian Defence General Staff, holding the position of Project Manager for the development of the national Counter-IED capability.
From November 2009 to June 2011, as a Lieutenant Colonel, he commanded the "Verbano" Battalion of the 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment in Udine, assigned to the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" Cavalry Brigade, and deployed to Operation "LEONTE" in Lebanon as Task Force Engineer Commander.
From June 2011 to July 2013, he served as Head of the Joint Relations Section of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.
Promoted to Colonel in 2013, he assumed command of the 4th Engineer Regiment of the "Aosta" Mechanized Brigade until September 2014. During this period, he deployed to Operation ISAF in Afghanistan as Task Force Engineer Commander.
From September 2014 to August 2016, he served as Head of the Planning Office within the III Department for General and Financial Planning of the Italian Army General Staff.
From August 2016 to October 2018, as a Brigadier General, he served as Head of the General Planning Office of the 3rd Department for Military Policy and Planning of the Italian Defence General Staff.
From 2018 to 2020, he commanded the "Aosta" Mechanized Brigade, deploying to Operation "Leonte XXVI" in Lebanon from May to November 2019 as Commander of JTF-L Sector West.
From 28 September 2020 to 26 February 2024, he served as Head of the General Office of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army.
