IDGA’s Electronic Health Records Summit features top Industry, Military, and Medical Representatives

New York, NY – May 12, 2010– The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) is pleased to announce the newest installment of the Electronic Health Records Summit, scheduled for May 24-26, 2010, at the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner Hotel, Vienna, VA.

This follow up summit will delve into a distinct set of topics that are of immediate concern and interest to all in the community in an informal forum that encourages discussion and debate. IDGA’s top notch roster of speakers will stress the importance of defining the problems faced by each of the respective offices and departments represented, while looking at immediate actionable items and focusing on long term objectives.

Speakers include Dr. Paul Tibbits, SES, Deputy CIO, Office of Strategy, Architecture, and Design, Dept of VA; CAPT Michael S. Weiner, MC, USNDirector, EHR Way Ahead Planning Office; Dr. Stephen Ondra, Senior Policy Advisor for Health Affairs, The Department of Veteran’s Affairs; COL Hon S. Pak, USA, MC, AMEDD CMIO;Aaron McKethan, ONC Beacon Communities Program Director; and Dr. Douglas E. Rosendale, Veteran’s Health Administrations Joint Interoperability Ventures.

Topics of discussion at IDGA’s 2010 Electronic Health Records Summit will include the current status of the military’s EHR implementation, plot a roadmap ahead for our federal/nationwide initiatives for EHRs and a VLER, and discuss current "case studies" including the MAPS Initiative, the North Chicago VA/DoD Integration Site, and NYS’s EHR/ Health IT programs, and explore the future roadmap of the VLER.
