Pierre Poirier, a marine information consultant with Xpert Solutions Technology, discusses issues with maritime domain awareness and activities in Canada. He discusses in detail the INNAV system that is being used by the Canadian Coast Guard as a maritime traffic monitoring tool. He talks about the advantages of the system, how it works, and its current users. INNAV collects and diseminates information and provides a single maritime picture for users and it currently covers 125,000 miles of coastline, 3.8 millions square miles of surface area and 1,500 ships per day in the AOR.
